NITK Surathkal:

National Institute of Technology Karnataka, Surathkal is a premier Institute engaged in imparting quality technological education and providing support to research and development activities. NITK is recognized as an Institute of National Importance by an act of Parliament. NITK has carved a niche for itself among the best technical institutes in India and is consistently ranked among the top 10 technological institutes. NITK offers 9UG, 30 PG programs and Ph.D. programs.

Central Library:

NITK Central Library was established in the year 1960 along with the institute having modern facilities and fully automated library system. The NITK Library is housed in a spacious three-storied building adjoining the Main building of the Institute on the Southern side. The library, with a floor area of 2,758 Sq mtrs., is segregated into two wings. Periodicals, journals and bound volumes are accessible in the Western wing, while books are housed in the Eastern wing. Three reading halls which can accommodate a total of 600 students. The library has a rich collection of books (1.3 lacs) on Electrical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Computer Science, Mechanical Engineering, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, and Humanities. The collection includes reference books, text books, CDs etc. The Library provides access to more than 12000 e-Journals in addition to 100+ print journals and 8000 e-Books. The new e-Library Complex of Central Library of NITK, Surathkal has advanced IT-based State-of-the-Art facilities with two cyber libraries, research discussion rooms, seminar halls, digital reading rooms accessible 24X7 along with cafeteria.

How to reach NITK:

NITK is located in Surathkal on the scenic shores of the Arabian Sea, about 18 KM north of the city of Mangalore and is well connected by Air, Rail and Road. The nearest domestic/international airport is situated at Bajpe (about 14 KM from NITK Campus) and the nearest Railway Station is Surathkal (3KM) on Konkan Railway line which links Mumbai to Kanyakumari. Mangalore Jn and Mangalore Central railway stations are also closest alighting points with just 20 km from NITK campus. The Campus is situated right on National Highway 66 which connects Kerala and Coastal Karnataka with Mumbai and a very good bus connectivity from Mangalore, Udupi etc. Mangalore is also connected by NH 48 which connects to Bangalore.
